Red Yellow was conceived for the balcony of the Russian Cinema as part of a group show, Lexus Hybrid Art 2015. From the viewing station the wide-angle view is interrupted by the moving image of an empty black wetsuit hangout to dry blowing in the wind as the ocean recedes in the background. Feels like some kind of Butoh death dance but that’s just an exaggerated edge. Might we need to be rescued from the prevailing (rip)tides or the undertow of images themselves? Do you feel safe? Do you feel you can have your images and eat them too? No rhyme or reason to worry—a guard will always be on duty to save you from the dread of entertainment.
