Triangulating Hives consists of three pairs of LCD monitors positioned vertically (portrait mode) and arranged as three open “books” on the wall. The bindings of the books are slightly different suggesting the sequence of a book just about to open, being fully open, and beginning to close. There are three sets of images for the three books. From left to right book one is of hands piling small stones over and over again; book two is of various relatively abstract images of the surfaces of vinyl records and/or CDs. These images convey something like the world recording everything—the making of an endless archive that forever plays in space. The third book is of various people one at a time coming out of darkness towards the viewer to receive a singular flower from the artist’s hand before turning around and returning to darkness. All three books incorporate written texts which are all of peoples’ last words ranging from the mundane to the philosophical to the one that surrenders to another that says goodbye and so on. In front of the books are three separate white benches that are curved arcs of various lengths. Angles and lengths are determined by the corresponding book’s state of openness.
